“Coppélia” is a ballet by the French composer Léo Delibes, with the libretto by Charles Nuitter and Arthur Saint-Léon, which is based on E.T.A Hoffmann’s “The Sandman” and “the Doll”. The work premiered successfully on the 25^th of May 1870 at the “Salle Le Peletier”, where it became the most performed ballet at the Paris Opera.
