"The Sound of Music" is a musical with the music by Richard Rodgers and the lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein. The musical about the Trapp family, which premiered on the 16^th of November in 1959 in the Lunt-Fontanne Theater, is now regarded as one of the most famous stories in the world. Based on the experiences of Maria Augusta Trapp, the musical tells the story family with the same name from Salzburg. Maria, a novice in the monastery, is sent to the take care of the children of the widowed baron of Trapp. The Family falls in love with Mary, and soon Maria and the baron marry. After the annexation under the Third Reich the whole family has to move to Amerika where they travel from stage to stage to earn their livelihood.
