This time, philosopher Lisz Hirn talks with philosopher Konrad Paul Liessmann about one of his passions: collecting. What does he collect, and why shouldn't one resist small temptations, even as a rational person?
LISZ HIRN, born in Upper Styria, studied humanities and singing in Graz, Paris, Vienna, and Kathmandu. She works as a philosopher, publicist, and lecturer in youth and adult education, as well as participating in international art projects and exhibitions as a freelance artist. She also completed a diploma course in "practice-oriented project management" in 2017.
The focus of her philosophical and academic work is on philosophical anthropology, political philosophy, intercultural ethics, and philosophical practice. Engaged in intercultural dialogue, the philosopher is chairwoman of the Association for Practical Philosophy and a board member of the Society for Applied Philosophy (gap). Among other things, she has served as a member of the board of the Society for Applied Philosophy (gap). She has worked as a visiting lecturer at Kathmandu University in Nepal and has lectured at Sophia University, Nihon University in Tokyo, and the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos in Lima. She also taught at the École Supérieure Roi Fahd de Traduction in Tangier, Morocco, in 2015.
From October 2015 to January 2017, she was a fellow at the Research Institute for Philosophy in Hanover. From December 2018 to February 2019, she was a residency awardee at the renowned Adishakti Laboratory for Arts Research in Tamil Nadu, India. Since 2014, she has taught at the University of Vienna's Department of Philosophical Practice, and since fall 2020, she has also been a university lecturer at the Institute of Architecture and Design (Research Area Housing & Design) at the Vienna University of Technology. Lisz Hirn currently lives and works in Vienna.
