Who was Empress Elisabeth of Austria? Under the name Sisi, she became a projection figure of modernity, similar to Princess Diana, Amy Winehouse or Marilyn Monroe. Sisi is still an inspiration for films and series to this day, and countless publications try to find out who this historical figure really was - and yet the portrayal of Romy Schneider in three touching films by Ernst Marischka has survived in the general consciousness.

The young director Fritzi Wartenberg, together with the best-selling author Mareike Fallwickl, who recently impressed with her novels “The Anger That Remains” and “And All So Still,” now takes a complex and feminist look at this Austrian superstar.
