    "Chopin and I belong together," is the haunting declaration of love: In 2021, Bruce Liu won the International Chopin Competition (including minutes of standing ovations), and has since conquered prestigious concert halls from Milan, Cleveland, and Seoul. Equally immortal is the love between Romeo and Juliet, to whom Prokofiev dedicated his popular ballet. The opening concert, conducted by Marin Alsop, also pays tribute to the great Austrian composer Friedrich Cerha, who would have celebrated his 100th birthday in 2026.
