- Nikolai Rimski-Korsakow Scheherazade / Suite symphonique, Op. 35
Scheherazade once told stories for 1001 nights, thereby saving her life. Rimsky-Korsakov transformed four of them into oriental, sensual music in his suite. The suffering of children and the killing of many innocents in current global conflicts, however, inspired Israeli-born composer Chaya Czernowin, professor of composition at Harvard University, to create her lament. The exceptional vocal artist Sofia Jernberg lends a haunting voice to this lament, which will premiere in 2025. (Source: jeunesse.at)
