- Robert Schumann Das Paradies und die Peri, Op. 50, for Solo Voices, Choir, and Orchestra
Persian mythology, fairytale elements, and the most rewarding choral parts ensured that "Das Paradies und die Peri" became a hit during Schumann's lifetime, with almost 50 performances, including in Dublin, Amsterdam, and New York: "An oratorio, not for the prayer room—but for cheerful people"—that was the composer's description. In a letter, he expressed his enthusiasm for the work: "At the moment, I'm working on a major project, the largest I've undertaken to date – it's not an opera – I think it's almost a new genre for the concert hall." For the 2025|26 season finale, an outstanding ensemble of singers will be lined up under Symphoniker Chief Conductor Petr Popelka. The choral part is in the best hands of the Singverein of the Society of Friends of Music.
