Opera for ages 16 and up
The Turkish singer Gaye Su Akyol takes the audience in her minibus in a newly developed opera to a glittering, glamorous musical theater rebellion about resentment and respect, oppression and freedom.
Gaye Su Akyol also takes on the main role: Inspired by her video clip for the song "İstikrarlı Hayal Hakikattir", from which the title Consistent Fantasy is Reality is borrowed, she is traveling in a "dolmuş", one of the characteristic minibuses that are found in Turkey shape the streetscape as shared taxis. The people she collects on her journey couldn't be more different: a Turkish trans woman, a German right-wing extremist, a conservative Istanbul resident, a Berlin activist, people from the USA, Russia or China. Political disputes boil over in a small space, but when the bus breaks down on its way to space, everyone has to work together.
