Can a potted plant with a strong sense of freedom help a poet suffering from writer's block write the book of his life? Can it motivate him to spend a whole year exploring, even though he'd rather stay at home? What if he encounters wild animals, if it storms or becomes pitch black? And what if, after summer, autumn, winter, and spring, he's no longer the same as he was before?

Antonio Vivaldi was not only one of the most famous composers of his time, but also a virtuoso violinist. The collection of four violin concertos, each about a season, represents Vivaldi's best-known composition and is one of the earliest examples of program music: the cycle of a year captured in music. It includes natural phenomena such as gentle winds, storms, and thunderstorms, as well as bird songs, a dog, and scenes depicting the life of Italian peasants in the countryside, such as a hunt, a dance, or ice skating.

Children often experience the passing of the year and the changing seasons even more directly than adults. Therefore, Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons” is particularly well suited to combining music and theater, thus providing young audiences with an introduction to the world of theater.
