Wiener Sängerknaben - O sole mio Theater im Park - Wien Sun 14.Sep 2025 11:00 replace me !Arguably the world's most famous boys' choir has a long tradition: Boys have been singing in the Vienna Burgkapelle since at least 1296. In 1498, Maximilian I relocated his court and chapel to Vienna.
Musicians such as Mozart, Salieri, and Bruckner performed at the Viennese court; Joseph Haydn, Michael Haydn, and Franz Schubert sang in the choir as boys. As early as the Middle Ages, the court orchestra accompanied the emperor on his travels – today, tours are an integral part of the Vienna Boys' Choir's training: Since 1926, around 1,000 concert tours have taken place in 97 countries, with over 27,000 concerts performed.
Today, there are around 100 boys' choir members between the ages of 9 and 14, divided into four choirs. Together, they perform 300 concerts a year in front of almost half a million audiences around the world.
