Our society is in a constant state of stress. Inner restlessness, anxiety, and panic are symptoms, but continuing until exhaustion is the order of the day. Capitalism and a constant compulsion to self-optimize are breathing down our necks. Nevertheless: no breaks are planned, BURN ON!
5/8erl in Ehr'n turn the tables and deliver sound therapy with BURN ON!. Viennese soul serves as a painkiller for the overwhelming everyday life of our time. The 8erl operate in an almost unexplored territory of the Austrian music scene: between melancholy, constant grumbling, and compulsive cabaret antics, the 8erl perform in their own world, where the listener is blessed with grace, depth, and humor. The Italians have a word for this: sprezzatura – an attitude that creates the illusion of ease/effortlessness even when dealing with difficult problems. BURN ON!
In good band tradition, the political and the private are examined. Work is a theme on the new album; the country needs new work songs – or rather, idle songs. The everyday language, stylistic flourishes, and empty phrases of our Geilomobil storytellers are explored, transformed, and translated with self-irony into the style of Viennese soul. Of course, the sun also plays a key role in BURN ON!. Over a sundowner on the Friedensbrücke (Peace Bridge), social utopias are imagined, and the polarization of society that has been imposed on us is sung away in large choruses. BURN ON!
