"Maya Hakvoort Unplugged" - a lively evening full of music and "sweet memories"! With her extraordinary voice and incomparable style and charisma, the artist invites the audience on a journey into her musical past and also shows an exciting facet of her art: her versatility. With timeless hits by Earth Wind & Fire, Donna Summer, Diana Ross, Chaka Khan, Al Jarreau and Barry Manilow, among others, to which every viewer gets a story, she touches all hearts and fills the stage with her very own magic.
Experience interpretations of songs that have become soundtracks to all of our lives - from powerful ballads to rousing dance numbers. But that's not all! Maya Hakvoort also takes us into the world of jazz, the genre that has had a significant impact on her musical development. With her passion for jazz and its richness of color, she creates an atmosphere full of sophistication and elegance.
Maya Hakvoort is accompanied on the piano by Martin Wöss and Herbert "Herb" Berger on tenor saxophone, flute, clarinet and harmonica - together they bring the melodies to life with their virtuoso playing and perfectly underline the intimate setting of the evening.
Maya Hakvoort, born in the Netherlands, was educated at the Maastricht Conservatory and the "De Trap" cabaret and acting school in Amsterdam. She celebrated her breakthrough in Austria in 1994 as "Elisabeth" in the musical of the same name, which she performed over 1000 times in Vienna, Trieste, Osaka, Tokyo and in front of Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna.
She has played numerous leading roles in productions such as Chicago, Les Misérables, Gaudí, Catharine, Blood Brothers, Aspects of Love, The Three Musketeers, Jekyll & Hyde, Evita, High Society, Kiss me Kate, Victor/Victoria, Rebecca, Love Never Dies, Sunset Boulevard, Cats, Next to Normal, Don Camillo & Peppone, Little Me, Carrie, Heidi, Anatevka, Into the Woods, Cabaret and 2024 in Sunset Boulevard at the Landestheater in Innsbruck.
Since 2004, she has been producing her solo programs, the concert series “4Voices of Musical” and her musical productions Next to Normal, Blood Brothers and Into the Woods with her company MHMP. She is currently also on tour with the concerts “The Music of Bond”, “4Voices of Musical”, “Honoring Barbra Streisand” and “Maya Hakvoort – unplugged”.
In May 2024, she took on the title role in the world premiere of Lady M. in Shanghai, where she will soon delight her Asian fan base at gala concerts.
Maya Hakvoort was awarded the Golden Medal of Merit of the Republic of Austria, the Grand Decoration of Honour for Services to the Federal State of Lower Austria and the Golden Rathausmann of the City of Vienna. She also received the Austrian Music Theater Prize 2023 for "Best Musical Performance".
