This Burgtheaterstudio production is dedicated to the urgent and forward-looking question of what forms of engagement and protest can be found in the face of the climate catastrophe. Raphaela Bardutzky deals with this topic in her piece THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD using the example of a group of environmental activists who, among other things, occupy a forest in a lignite mining area by blocking rail tracks. An activist called Rabe comes into this community and has to get to know the extreme living conditions in the protest camp and the associated conflictual but also empowering group dynamics. She understands that taking responsibility is not only socially and politically required, but also affects the most personal and intimate areas of life. Her unwanted pregnancy confronts her with the problem of the extent to which it is responsible to bring a child into the world today - a question that suddenly becomes very concrete, interrupting the protesters' everyday life and presenting them with a special test.

Maximilian Pellert stages this explosive piece with young amateur players from the studio ensemble, so that the generation being told about speaks for itself.
