    Umberto Giordano’s "Andrea Chénier" is an opera in four acts, after the libretto by Luigi Illica. The opera puts the French Revolution, under the reign of the Jacobins, in the spotlight. The main story, is the young French poet André Chénier, whose life ends tragically on the Guillotine.

    The opera premiered at the Milan Scala and was soon after translated into five more languages.
