The Magic Flute by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart with the libretto by Emanuel Schikaneder is an opera in two acts and premiered in Vienna in 1791. At the premiere the "Zauberflöte" was already a great success and in the same year the opera was performed twenty times. The work combines the music styles of the opera seria, opera buffa and the tragédie lyrique, therefore offering a wide range of sounds. Even inexperienced opera-goers heard of the Queen of the night’s aria, "The revenge of hell reigns in my heart" or Papageno's "The birdcatcher I am".
