It happens even to the best of us: you drink one too many drinks and the next morning half the world is conspiring against you...
Lenglumé wakes up on his name day with no memory of the previous night. Instead, a stranger is lying in his bed - who turns out to be a former schoolmate and not-so-former drinking buddy Mistingue. In an attempt to hide from his wife the fact that he left the house on the last evening, Lenglumé is constantly confronted with new transgressions. When solid evidence finally suggests that he and Mistingue are involved in a murder case, a top-class game of hide-and-seek begins.

With its varied plot and crisp dialogue, The Rue de Lourcine Affair is a true comedy classic. As is well known, behind all the light-footedness and humor lurk the greatest human abysses. Director Alexandra Liedtke, most recently celebrated by the press and audience for her production of The Ideal Man, takes a close look at the Josefstadt Kammerspiele to see whether the urge to cover up is still inherent in our society in 2024.
